So I’m sure you’ve heard many times to think positive or not to be so negative. Must of us try but seem to fail. It can be hard sometimes but we can’t give up! It’s not always so easy but it is something important. We must condition our minds like a muscle and work at it at first but the good thing is it will get easier the more you do it and the longer you do it. Just like working out!
Below I have compiled a few tips to help you begin to think positive. You may have tried before and failed but now is the time to start. These 10 tips to condition your mind to think more positive will get you on track and it is up to you to continue through with it!
1. Start the day right, be happy and thankful
Have you ever woken up and right away been in a bad mood? Maybe your alarm didn’t go off, you woke up not feeling well or maybe you got out of bed and stubbed your toe. Things like these can lead you to see negativity that may not even be there. Instead, wake up happy and thankful for another day with energy and high spirits.
2. Plan the day ahead
To avoid procrastination or negative thoughts on your daily activities its best to have a plan set before each day. It’s always better to plan your work than to work with no plan. Make sure today goals are clearly defined and set in your mind or schedule. This can be done the night before or first thing in the morning.
3. Count your blessings
Be thankful. Easily put, focus on all good things that you do have. Don’t have any? “But did you die?” You have something to be thankful for. Thinking and complaining about what you don’t have doesn’t being it, it just brings more of nothing. Be thankful and appreciate what you do have.
4. Kiss worries goodbye.
At the end of each day, before you sleep, be sure to let go of all bad experiences and unhappy moments from the day. Throw them out and kiss them good-bye. Close your eyes and dream sweetly of the things you’re grateful for. Tomorrow is a new day and you’ll make it yours. Keep believing and have faith in yourself and the life you’re building.
5. Balance your desires.
We live in a world of opposites and duality. Its filled with loss and gain, pain and pleasure, light and dark, male and female, love and hate. This is how the cycle of life goes. We can never have all the good things in life at the same time. In love, there will always be someone who gets hurt. Measure and moderation is the primary key.
6. Be realistic
Make sure what you are going after is something positive in your mind. Sometimes it’s best to start small and work your way up to get to the big goal or desire. For example, if you want to lose weight you take it one step at a time and follow the path. You won’t just lose all the weight overnight. You join the gym, you work hard day after day, you change how you eat and you start seeing results over time as you put the work in.
7. Love yourself
Some may say this is “conceded” but think about it. How can you love life or others if you don’t honestly love yourself? Make a positive commitment to yourself. Praise yourself as much as you do others. When you start to feel confident in yourself positive thoughts will naturally flow to you. But remember there is a thin line between confidence and cockiness. Tread carefully!
Laughter is the best medicine as they say. Take time to enjoy life, have fun and laugh your head off. A few laughs a day and watching something light hearted and fun can help to throw away heavy baggage that seems to hold you back.
9. Ask Questions
Asking questions doesn’t make you dumb or ignorant. It shows you are always seeking to learn more or understand things clearly.
10. Be open
We have to be honest with ourselves and accept we don’t know everything. We are always learning in the new things we do and people we meet every day. We have to make sure to keep our minds open about new ideas and information that comes our way. This mentality will help us become a better brighter person.
